The cascading use of wood is a relevant strategy to improve resource efficiency in the light of increasing demand for wood in both traditional applications (e.g. paper, packaging, furniture, and timber industries, building sector, etc.), energy generation and innovative biobased applications. The “Study on the cascading use of wood” coordinated by BTG, with a consortium of INFRO, IEEP, NOVA and INTECUS for the European Commission (DG Growth) provides detailed insight in the definition, quantification, barriers and measures to promote cascading use of wood. The report can be found in the EU bookshop (http://bookshop.europa.eu/en/cascades-pbET0416305/). Please find here an overview of the main findings.
