In April 2021, BTG met online with project partners BBEPP and nova-institute to kick off their new 2-year Tech4Biowaste project. Tech4Biowaste aims to provide the bio-based industry a complete overview of existing and emerging technologies for bio-waste utilisation and valorisation. The Tech4Biowaste technology database will be a “Wiki” (similar to Wikipedia) to organise the content and to meet the specific needs of both technology providers and technology users.
The database content will be determined jointly with actors across the bio-waste value chain. Technology providers can showcase new and emerging technologies, even at lower technology readiness levels. Technology searchers will be able to analyse and compare bio-waste valorisation technologies.
The Wiki is in preparation and will be opened step-by-step: first for a test panel of evaluators, next for a community that can provide information on the targeted technologies and in the final stage to all. The free-to-use Wiki will be accessible through the project website that went online in June 2021.
Tech4Biowaste will be co-organiser and enabler of a matchmaking event that will take place on 28 September 2021 at Brussels Airport. This day offers the bio-based community an excellent opportunity to meet in person for a full day of intense cross-border pitching, matchmaking and networking. Full details are presented at the event landing page here.
If you can provide information on bio-waste valorisation technologies, if you want to be involved as a stakeholder or if you are just interested to stay informed on future project developments, please contact the Tech4Biowaste coordinator: John Vos
