In its history of 30 years, BTG has successfully taken the fast pyrolysis technology - in close cooperation with BTG Bioliquids - from its infancy to TRL 9, with currently three factories running on industrial scale. Next to fast pyrolysis itself, several other technologies are being further developed on the use of different biomass streams and the broadening of pyrolysis oil use in bioenergy, biofuel and bio-based material applications. One noteworthy success of last year is the world’s first 500 hours continuous run of an engine on pyrolysis oil.
You can take advantage of our first-hand experience with designing and developing a successful technology. BTG-RTD can support or provide a conceptual & basic design for your bio-based chemical processes, especially concerning the conversion of biomass and residues, and the upgrading towards biofuels and bio-based products. Moreover, the know-how and vast facilities provide BTG-RTD the capabilities to perform contract research in the field of chemical engineering. For example on hydrotreating, high pressure (catalytic) processing, liquid-liquid extraction, sub- and supercritical water conditions, electro-catalytic processing, and thermochemical conversion of biomass and residues. Possibilities range from lab scale to pilot scale.
A second pathway to capitalise on our experience is via a technical due diligence. By going through technology process development ourselves, and by successfully scaling up the fast pyrolysis technology, BTG-RTD is well familiar with all the hurdles and pitfalls of new technologies. Thanks to this experience combined with a critical mindset, BTG-RTD - in close cooperation with BTG Consultancy - has performed many due diligence assignments in the past years.
Finally, our analysis lab can perform a range of chemical and physical analyses, and we supply a range of pyrolysis-based products you can order for your own in-house testing and evaluation.
