2 September 2026 – As demand for sustainable transport fuels continues to grow, BTG sees significant opportunities in combining Advanced Biofuel production with e-Fuel synthesis. Advanced Biofuel facilities produce biogenic CO₂ streams that can be directly utilized as feedstock for e-Fuel production, creating strong synergies between the two technologies.
As Europe works toward ambitious climate and energy goals, both Advanced Biofuels and e-Fuels are increasingly recognized as essential components of the future sustainable transport fuel mix, particularly for sectors that are difficult to electrify, such as aviation, maritime transport, and heavy-duty mobility.

In the new InteRenewABle project, BTG leads a consortium that will develop and evaluate three promising integrated renewable fuel concepts:
These integrated concepts are expected to deliver significant improvements in process efficiency compared to standalone facilities. By utilizing carbon streams more effectively and reducing the need for additional carbon capture and transport infrastructure, the concepts can contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions and a more efficient use of renewable electricity and sustainable biomass resources.
By paving the way for large-scale rollout of integrated Advanced Biofuel and e-Fuel value chains, InteRenewABle seeks to unlock substantial future savings in energy use and carbon emissions while strengthening Europe's energy resilience and industrial competitiveness.
